Anonymous I have read your install instructions (Installing Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio Driver in windows 7) and all the responses and to be sure I am confused. Some responses seem to indicate that your procedure will work for a 64-bit installation and some indicate it will not work. I have a HP Pavilion zd8000 CtO Laptop (circa 10/2008) on which I have now installed Win 7 Pro 64-bit.

As somewhat expected I have no sound. In fact moving the pointer over the red-xed speaker in the taskbar says 'No Audio Output Device is installed.

I have been unable to determine exactly which Conexant AC97 Audio Device (by number,e.g. CX.)is installed so that is as much as I can identify it. I tried to install the Vista 64-bit driver and that did not work. The following are the three devices for which there are no Win 7 64-bit drivers and show up in Device Manager with the yellow Exclamation Point.

Mass Storage Controller PCI VEN_104C&DEV_8033&SUBSYS_3082103C&REV_00 PCI VEN_104C&DEV_8033&SUBSYS_3082103C PCI VEN_104C&DEV_8033&CC_018000 PCI VEN_104C&DEV_8033&CC_0180 Multimedia Audio Controller PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_3082103C&REV_03 PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_3082103C PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100 PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_0401 PCI Modem PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266D&SUBSYS_3082103C&REV_03 PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266D&SUBSYS_3082103C PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266D&CC_070300 PCI VEN_8086&DEV_266D&CC_0703 Everybody seems to download a different SoftPaq (SP.). How would I know which to download and where to get it from?

I would then like to follow your procedure since you seem to have helped many. I have a Compaq nx9040 with Windows 7 Ultimate installed.

Using your post regarding the graphics drivers, I was able to install the proper drivers. Thank you so much!

But I'm having great trouble installing the proper audio drivers. I've tried installing the drivers above, but it keeps saying that the installation failed. I have 3 devices that have exclamation points. I'm sure one of them is for the audio, since I don't have a device named 'Sound.' The hardware ID for that device is.

PCI VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&SUBSYS_3084103C&REV_03 PCI VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&SUBSYS_3084103C PCI VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&CC_040100 PCI VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&CC_0401 I'd love to receive your help!! Hi Black, I have HP Pavillion dv6502au notebook initially with vista installed. Later I installed win 7 for the past 2 years everything was working fine. But suddenly for past few weeks my Audio comes and goes. When I play a video for a couple of minutes the sound works then its gone. If I don't play for few min sound returns n then the cycle continues. This was my previous driver - sp37732 - Conexant High-Definition Audio Chip Upate by windows update to - sp40170 - Conexant High-Definition SmartAMC Audio Chip.

My hardware i is: Conexant High Definition SmartAudio HD2 HDAUDIO FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30CF&REV_1001 HDAUDIO FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30CF Please, I hope you could help me on this. I tried system restore but to no avail. After I restart sometimes the sound icon is ok sometimes its crossed.

Right now my sound icon is crossed when I check my device manager under Sound, video and game controllers it shows as unknown device. Right click I get No drivers are installed for this device.

If I try update driver software from there it says Conexant Raptor HD video capture (Philips TUV 1236D)driver software is up to date. I tried re-installing my sound drivers for conexant (sp37732 - Conexant High-Definition Audio Chip.exe and sp40170 - Conexant High-Definition SmartAMC Audio Chip.exe) it gives error - Driver Installation failed: could not find the device for this driver. The problems is sometimes sound working and sometimes not, Reformating is the last thing to check either hardware faulty or system corrupted by windows update. Windows update is good especially for security but sometimes mess with the hardware drivers. Try manual installation, right click on audio - update driver - browse my computer for. - don't search i will choose.

- have disk - browse to c:/swsetup/SP37732 - uncheck show compatible hardware and select conextant audio. Other thing to do is when it has the cross sign try right click and see if there are eneble option available. If yes enable it.

You can also right click - select properties and select roll back drivers. Mayur Hi Aziz. Thanks a lot for replying. While installing both the above drivers i am getting this error message ' Driver installation failed: could not find the device for this driver. ' i have done exactly the same way u have mentioned above. But still same error. Also i have tried installing driver with the method where we have to select Have disk & then from C drive - swsetup folder & then select the file.

But still getting error message as This device cannot start. (Code10) i am really fed up now as no audio to my laptop since 3-4 months. Also my cd/dvd drive icon is missing. There is one more explanation for your problems, I think your windows is missing the core/important windows system file. This happen because during the windows installation, some of the file is not completely installed on your system. This also would explain the missing DVD icon on your system. The hard way is to figure out what is missing, the easy way is to reinstall windows.

I prefer reinstall windows using USB stick and avoid using DVD/CD. This happen to me more than 10 different laptops i repaired. Can you reinstall your windows, If not it is difficult to workaround this problem.

Mayur Hi Aziz. I had installed windows 7 for around 5-6 times now using USB stick since cd/dvd drive isn't working on my laptop. & every time i installed OS the problem with the drivers & CD/DVD drive remains the same. I don't have original windows 7 setup; i have downloaded it from torrents.com so there may be possibilities that the windows setup which i installed has some files missing in it (please correct me if i am wrong here) or i might have installed it wrongly 1. Can you please provide me link from where i can download windows 7 & which is defects free. Can you please tell me the step by step method of installing windows 7 using USB stick. OR 3 Can i go ahead & install windows 7 again with the same setup file & with the same method.

X64 (64-bit) is for laptop which have 4GB RAM and above. X86 (32-bit) is for laptop which have 3GB RAM and below. If you have 4GB ram and install x86, windows will detect 4GB but only 3GB is usable. So to fully utilize RAM with 4GB capacity and above, x64 is preferable for maximum performance. To check your ram capacity, right click on computer and select properties, it will show how much RAM your laptop have. From what i know, your laptop only support up to 2GB maximum RAM so x86 (also called 32-bit) is the best choice. Mayur Hi Aziz, As per your advice i had downloaded & installed windows 7 from above link also installed all the above mentioned drivers but still the problem remains same.

And Hence after all my efforts i decided to take my laptop to HP service center & there i came to know that my Graphic card isn't working & i need to change it. That guy is HP service center is telling me that missing DVD icon & Audio driver problem is due to corrupted graphic card. Would u suggest me to spend 4000 INR for new graphic card? Or can i get used one somewhere & i can change it by myself?

Or is there any other solution to it? Anonymous I am attempting to fix this same issue on an HP Pavilion dv1000 series.dv1650us to be exact. I've tried downloading, moding, and installing several of the installs, but have been unsuccessful in resolving this problem. Would someone mind helping me out a little further with this? This is my device Hardware ID: HDAUDIO FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000 I installed sp35811 as this is the correct Vista driver for my model laptop. Anonymous RESOLVED!!!

Thank you so much. I downloaded a free trial version of WINRAR. I extracted the files, right clicked the setup.exe and ran as administrator, and it worked great. I had to restart my laptop as I was playing around with the devices in device manager and uninstalled it. So, restarting the laptop got it to appear again (for those that may try this fix and run into that problem).

Thank you for the extremely quick response and for taking the time to mod this install for me. I'll be sure to pass along the good favor. I spent over 2 hours last night trying to get this to work. Woke up this morning, and had it done in a snap, thanks to you. System Restore If your audio already working, mean there are changes made to your notebook such as Windows automatic updates. We need to undo these changes by using System restore. By using system restore you can restore your computer to a specific time where the audio still working, means you need to select the dates before Monday or at least on Monday (Oct 27th).

Here is the tutorial for the system restore: Older dates is preferable. If system restore does not bring your audio back, try with this driver: extract the driver file, right lick on setup and select run as admin to install. Or Try with your original Vista drivers: Install this driver in: Normally your issue will solve if you are able to perform system restore.

If the motherboard of your new computer has an audio chipset developed by Realtek and the PC is not able to render any sound, it might be missing some hardware drivers. These are basically pieces of software that were developed to help the operating system to activate and to use use the audio chipset. Without adequate software, the operating systems – as well as all applications – are unable to find or use the audio device. Download Game Big Fish Full Crack Membrane here. Hence, the computer finds it impossible to produce any kind of audio. To fix the issue, you just need to download the Realtek AC 97 Audio Driver. It also contains various codecs required by the operating system to decode audio streams.

Without these codecs, the computer is not able to play the audio files; however, you can install third party codec packages to fix this issue.
